What can I do about unauthorized use of my social security number?

Someone else used my social security number.

If they are using it for employment you need to contact the fraud department at social sequirity. If they are using it for credit, you will need to contact the three credit berua's and flag your credit report. Also, be sue to have a statement of the situation on you credit reports.

Report it to the Social Security Administration. This constitutes as fraud and the person using your SS number will go to jail. They may issue you a new number.

Adopt a policy of not giving out your SSN unless you are convinced it's required or is to your benefit,Never print your Socia Do not carry your SSN card in your wallet except for situations when it is required Security number on your checks, business cards, address labels or other identifying information,
