The nerve your describing is called the femoral nerve. The most common cure is rest. You can also go to therapy. Sometimes a splint or cast may need to be used. In extreme cases surgery is necessary. Try to keep off your damaged leg and let it rest. If you hurt yourself further the damage may be permanent.

Surgery is not usually an option for pinched nerves in legs. Usually, a doctor will just order rest, ice, and elevation of the affected limb.

Take warm baths using Epsom Salts. Also, do things that will improve your circulation such as drinking more water and light exercise.

Individuals with mild pinched nerves can heal them with approximately 2 to 3 weeks of bed rest and warm compresses three times a day. Chronic cases will need either constant physical therapy to relive the pressure or surgery to release or destroy the nerve. Contact your physician or orthopedist for more information.

One can massage the area unless too much pain is caused by the rubbing. Some people also recommend a combination of heat and ice treatments.

In order to heal a pinched nerve in an upper leg, surgical intervention may be required. I had a pinched nerve in my upper leg and physical therapy was attempted to free up inflammation, but it failed.
