What brands of portable stereos should I look at?

It depends on your price point and what functions you want it to include, such as ipod jack or 3.5 mm input for other portable media players. I had always enjoyed bose but they can be a little pricey.

Portable stereos are pretty good in any brand. Your top sellers are usually RCA or Sony. They are both known for making high-quality electronics. Even so, you can buy a less expensive portable stereo and be perfectly happy. They are not much different from one another in the long run.

Going from what I've seen my brothers purchase I would go with any type of SONY product. It seems like they are the longest lasting brands, although a bit expensive.

Plenty of low cost portable stereos available out there. Your best bet is to check out some of the big discount stores like Walmart or Macys.
