Question by  Carlo (40)

What areas of the country are good for growing a moon trumpet plant?

I like these plants but am not sure if they will grow where I live. I also get a lot of sun in my yard.

I think you mean moonflower? I have grown them on a fence in full sun, and they did well. Just be sure to provide them with support to trail on.

The best thing you can do is talk to your local greenhouse they will be able to answer all of your questions. They will know exactly where they will grow and how to get them to grow if you can grow them in your area. They will also know the best soils and planting times.

You can grow these anywhere. Even in colder climates these can be started inside, then planted outside when the weather warms up.

Well to answer this question, you have to indicate where you live. But since you get a lot of the sun in your backyard, then this indicates that the plants well grow well. They thrive in hot climates.

Although these are a tropical annual, they can be grown just about anywhere if started early enough indoors. I'm in zone 6 and usually start them in mid April indoors.

Any areas are good. If you get a lot of sun in the yard, those are optimal conditions for the plant to grow in. You should also have some dry climates.

Moon trumpets, also called "moonflower," are hardy to USDA zone 8. In general, zone 8 includes the coastal half of the states along the bottom and left of the United States. It can grow in colder areas during the summer, but it will die out over winter.
