Weather is comprised of many different components like temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and wind. Each tool measures one of these components. A thermometer measures temperature. Barometers measure atmospheric pressure. Wind gauges and weather vanes measure the speed and direction of wind. In addition to these basic tools there are others that measure dew point, wind chill, humidity, and so on.
