Papilledema (swelling of the optic nerve) symptoms include headache, swelling, an sense of increased pressure and even a machinery like sound. Roughly 1/4 of ppl with papilledema will also experience visual symptoms lasting less than 30 secs; often grey or black "veil" over vision. See your doctor for diagnosis.

Often it has no symptoms. It may start with a mild headache. Gradually a blind spot appears and may grow larger. Blurred vision and obscured vision may occur. Total loss of vision can occur as well.

The symptoms include fleeting vision changes, headache, vomiting or a combination of any or all. At the onset there may not be any symptoms but usually the first symptoms are blurred or double vision usually only lasting a few seconds at first. A diagnosis is made by the doctor looking into the eye with a special instrument.

In early stages, papilledema (swelling of the optic nerve) doesn't always affect your vision. As it progresses, changes such as blurred vision, flickering vision, double vision or complete loss of vision that would typically only last for seconds are symptoms of this condition. It may also cause headaches, vomiting, nausea or a combination of these.

In the early stage papilledema is asymptomatic. But it may progress to blurring of vision,in ability to see in a particular vision and loss of vision.
