There are multiple dissociative disorders. If you are talking about dissociative identity disorder, the person will have multiple distinct personalities that will take over possibly without his/her awareness.

Dissociative disorders involve disruptions or breakdowns of memory, awareness, identity and one's perception. The DSM-IV-TR lists five different dissociative disorders; depersonalization, dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, dissociative identity disorder, and dissociative disorder otherwise non-specified. All generally involve the disruptions listed, but differ in slight ways.

There is more than one dissociative disorder. If you're thinking of dissociative identity disorder that is characterized by a person having more than one fully formed identities or personalities with their own names, ages, wants and wishes. Dissociative fugue involves a person moving away because they think they're someone else and then move back after remembering who they are.
