Tighten your bow as if you were playing. Take your rosin and rub it from end to end on the hair of the bow. Your rosin may be slippery if it is new. You can scratch it with a key to roughen the surface.

To rosin your bow take out the bow and tighten the hairs until there is about a quarter inch of space between the hairs and the bow. Holding the rosin in your left hand, run the bow from end to end fully across the rosin 5 to 10 times.

Hold your rosin in your left hand and your bow in your right. Start at the bottom of the bow and slowly move up and down the bow several times.

Rub nail file over rosin block to raise powder, then brush your bow strings as if you were brushing long hair, moving back and forth to make the hair evenly sticky. Tighten your bow a few turns, and repeat.

After tightening the bow hairs, draw the bow hair up and down across the rosin from frog to tip several times, using moderate pressure.
