There really aren't any, but since it is actually *for* seasonal allergies, i don't think it's meant to be taken every day for more than a few months...

Zyrtec shouldn't be taken long term since it is just for allergies. The side effects of this drug include alterations in cognition, therefore you get drowsy, you have mood swings, you become dizzy.

I took Zyrtec for over 6 years, and I can tell you with some authority that they cause many mental changes as time goes by. Upon prolonged use of Zyrtec, you can become depressed and angry. I also found myself overly emotional most of the time. There is also a risk when quitting the drug after a long period.

Zyrtec is only supposed to be used for seasonal allergys, not as a long term medicine. That being said there really aren't any side effects for long term use. Although it can cause drowsiness when taken at all.

My son was born with Asthma when he was 2 they put him on Zyrtec he is almost 16 and he is the picture of health it helped control Asthma.

Prolonged use of zyrtec causes depression, mood swings, disturbed sleep, apathy, very wierd dreams, memory loss ,hair loss constipation and Severe temper tantrums.some people experience severe stomach pain in their lower intestines.

my son was proscribed zyrtec for his allergys and it has ruined him!! he is 7 and it has made him very angry,depressed, severe mood swings, and severe temper tantrums. he only took it a couple months and hes been off it a month and still no changes.
