Outdoor running has the advantage of being less boring. With a good treadmill, you get a shock resistant surface, no unexpected lumps and bumps that could turn your ankle, control over your environment (no rain or snow, no cars to run you down! ), and you can control your incline to really customize your workout. And you can watch TV!

For me, personally, nothing beats an outdoor run. I love the fresh air in the early morning. Good quality treadmills might cost quite a bit of money. However, working out on a treadmill is advantageous if the outside weather is less than perfect (heavy rain, fog or snow, for example).

If you are going the same distance, it doesn't matter where you do the running. The best thing about a treadmill is that you can use it while doing other things. But on the negative side, it can be boring because there is no changing scenery. Running outside can be more interesting, but it makes multitasking more difficult.

Some of the helpful things about the treadmill is you get to run inside your house without facing the hot burning sun. The bad thing is you might get distracted on the treadmill and fall easily.
