When I broke my left clavicle, the doctor put me in a harness-type sling that pulled down on the shoulder while pulling up on my elbow. Basically, my left shoulder was immobilized. After 8 weeks, the bone was healed.

To heal the clavicle bone I would recommend eating foods high in calcium, resting the area, and using the brace or sling your doctor gave you.

There is no way to improve the healing of a clavicle bone other than making sure it remains perfectly still so the bone can reattach properly.

Sometimes a strap and a sling hold the arm and clavicle bone together. They're times when surgery is required and a plate with screws are used to hold in place.

Often the most used and least intrusive way to aide in healing the clavicle bone is a sling or a strap.
