There may be numerous fillers in citalopram due to the fact that there are many manufacturers that make the drug including Aurobindo and Apotex. Lactose is a very common filler.

Citalopram, like other medications of its' type are held together by standard binding agents. The most common binding agent is starch, which is a filler.

The following is directly from the manufacturers information on file at the FDA for Lexapro, the name-brand version of citalopram- The tablets also contain the following inactive ingredients: talc, croscarmellose sodium, microcrystalline cellulose/colloidal silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate. The film coating contains hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, titanium dioxide, and polyethylene glycol.
