There are three grades, they are A, B, and C. A is considered the "nicest" grade, because the hairs have the smallest diameter. B and C grade hairs are progressively larger. Cashmere grades aren't typically listed on the clothing, so you must go by feel when purchasing.

Cashmere is assigned a grade (Grade-A, Grade-B, and so on) based on the species of goat the fibers come from. The best way to choose high-quality cashmere is by touch--compare which ones are more soft and plush. Cashmere also should have "spring" to it, so pull the fabric and check that it maintains it's shape.

Cashmere has three main grades. Grade A has approximately a 15 microns hair width, Grade B has approximately a 19 microns hair width and Grade C has approximately a 30 microns hairs width. The finer the width of the hairs, the softer the texture of a garment will be.

cashmere is available in several grades, including "grade-A", "grade-B" and soon. the highest quality cashmere products made with "grade-A" cashmere. The best grade of cashmere is 14-15. 5 microns in diameter and all the pashmina and cashmere products that we offer are made with this very fine grade of cashmere.

Very few people can discern between grades of Cashmere. All are soft. In reality if an entire scarf is made of Grade-A Cashmere (14 microns) it is very expensive. Most Pashminas under $100 are made with mixed grades but quality of weave matters.

Cashmere grades start at A and move downwards (B, C, D), with A being the highest grade. The finer the cashmere is, the higher the associated grade is with it.
