Bob Marley was suffering from a form of melanoma and, by the time of his death, it had spread to his lungs and his brain. Supposedly, he had picked up a wound at a soccer match and from that would would come his rare form of melanoma. The cancer treatments that he received were unsuccessful.

Bob Marley unfortunately passed away from a brain tumor. Because of his religious beliefs, he initially refused medical treatment that could have caught the cancer at an earlier stage. He died in 1981, at age 36.

Bob Marley died from a cancerous brain tumor in May, 1981 at the age of 36. In 1980 he had collapsed while jogging and tests discovered the tumor. His health started to go downhill in 1977 from an injured toe refusing to heal.

Bob Marley discovered he had acral lentiginous melanoma (a type of cancer) in July 1977. In May 1981 when Marley was 36 he was rushed in Miami hospital after his vital functions worsened on his was back home from Germany. He died on May 11th due to the melanoma having spread to his lungs and brain.
