What are the Confucianism beliefs about the afterlife?

One of the big shifts with Confucianism is that the focus became the here and now rather than the afterlife. In China at that time, the prevailing philosophies focused almost entirely on the afterlife and the idea that your ancestors were there watching and guiding you. Confucius changed that so people had to take greater responsibility in this world.

Confucius never gave specif answers on the afterlife. Only this, "If you cannot understand life, how can you understand death"
