Those are comic books influenced by classic literature like Moby Dick, Robinson Crusoe, Les Miserable, The Odyssey and many more. They are a HUGE collector's series; however, that does not mean that they are ridiculously expensive. There are some that can be quite cheap. Good luck!

There are hundreds of classic illustrated comics for you to choose from, depending on what you can afford, the condition of the book, and which comic heroes your father likes. Prices range from over one hundred thousand dollars (the first appearance of Superman), to not more than ten dollars (the first Wolverine).

Some of the classic comics are Superman, Spiderman, and Batman. There are many many more, it really depends on what your Dad likes. Think about the era he grew up in and try to find one from that time.

Some classic illustrated comics are watchmen,Justice league. The wtahcmen is an especially good comic because it is an old classic probably back when your dad was a child. Not to mention, you can also buy the movie for him also, from what I heard, the movie is somewhat resemblant of the comic.

The Golden Age of comic books offered a wide variety of genres, including superheroes, Westerns, horror--and the Classics Illustrated series, which provided condensations of such famous works as Tom Sawyer, The Three Musketeers and Uncle Tom's Cabin. The individual issues, which were reprinted many times, are fondly remembered by many comic-book fans and can still be found in comic shops.
