The basic ingredients, common to a number of different recipes, include: lobster meat, flour, cooking sherry, butter, milk, water, salt, and pepper. Some of the other ingredients that are sometimes used in lobster bisque may include dill seed, celery, parsley, bay leaves, worcestshire sauce, paprika, green pea soup, cream, and nutmeg.

The luxurious lobster bisque is a creamy soup made from starting with a seafood stock base usually including lobster. Other ingredients can include cream, fresh vegetables such as onion and celery sauteed in butter. In addition tomato and a touch of cognac can be used. The restaurant chain Steak and Ale had a wonderful version.

To start with you must have lobster, even canned will do if you can't get fresh. Fresh cream or whole milk depending on your fat content preference. Old bay seasoning is a need touch and some general spices from your cabinet such as salt pepper, garlic powder, bay leaf.

You'll need a live lobster or two and some long-grain rice. The liquid is water, white wine, fish stock, and beef stock. The vegetables are a mire poix (onions, carrots, celery) and tomatoes. Spices include garlic, paprika, thyme, salt and white pepper. To finish, you'll need cognac, heavy cream, and lemon juice.

Obviously lobster, lobster broth, celery, butter, leaks, chalets, sherry, tomato paste, carrots, assorted herbs, heavy cream. It is hard to make a list of the basics because there is a lot involved in lobster bisque. Its a complicated and time consuming thing to make but it tastes delicious in the end.
