A compressed oxygen canister is the size of an iPod or large "walkman" radio. This is more portable than a large oxygen tank. It can allow someone to travel more freely and to not require ramps for pulling the tank on wheels. It is sometimes a necessity for those too weak to move their own oxygen tank.
