You will save on your hospital bill and anesthesia bill by doing two at the same time, if you can find an M.D. who will do both at once. Most want to do the hernia first, let you recover and then do the tuck.

First, one charge for anesthesia and hospital fees, and one recovery period. Second, when a tummy tuck is performed the stomach muscles are pulled tight and sutured together. Along with the mesh that is usually inserted to support the area of hernia repair this tightening will add strength to the damaged area.

The main advantage is the the doctor does not need to go in twice. It is always better to fix as many things as possible in one surgery as opposed to going through the risks of multiple surgeries and, also the healing time involved. There is also less cost involved

Performing two procedures at once reduces risk of infection and the recorvery time as opposed to having procedures done separately. Also, costs may be reduced by doing two at once.

All surgeries carry inherent risks. Many of these risks, such as infection or a reaction to the medications used, occur for every operation. Thus, if you can combine procedures into a single operation, it is safer. It is also likely to be more economical.
