Start by finding seats for difficult/fighting family members first. Seat them far away, at different tables. Put them with people they'll be able to talk to. Then fill in the rest, putting people with friends/co-workers so that everyone will be comfortable and know most of the people at their table.

Make sure that you keep people away from one another who do not get along. Make that your first priority. Then, make sure that you are seating all of the couples together and go from there. Group the guests into family, family friends, friends, etc. and try to keep people of relatively the same age at the same table.

Decide where you are going to seat the children and the adults that are responsible for the children. Seat people that are hostile with people that are more laid back and relaxed. Be sure to mix everyone in together though so that its not the brides family on one side and the grooms on the other.
