Make sure you are wearing protection when you have sex!! As soon as your period starts the natural birth control that breast feeding can be stops. There is no reason to stop breast feeding when you have your period, although some say it changes the taste of the breast milk.

It is a common problem to have irregular periods while breastfeeding. Doctors may suggest going on the pill to regularize the menstrual cycle again, but only ones that are safe to nurse while taking, like Micronor or Depo-Provera. Also, taking a synthetic progestin, like Provera can help regulate menstrual cycles as well.

For irregular menstrual cycle - drink dates syrup and carrot juice daily, slowly your periods will become normal. For breastfeeding - In order to produce more milk, you need to eat dry fish and take 3 cups of milk daily.

It is not unusual for your menstrual cycle to be irregular while you are nursing. Some women have their cycle stop. It can be frustrating if you are trying to figure out your fertile periods and then determine if your period is just delayed, or if you might be pregnant.

One of the effects of breastfeeding is raised hormone levels which can affect menstrual cycles. Some women do not even have cycles while breastfeeding, thus leading to the wives tale that you cannot get pregnant while breastfeeding. Be sure to use a effective birth control method.

Breastfeeding and your menstrual cycle do not really counteract each other. While breastfeeding it is normal to not get your monthly cycle much longer than not breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding usually causes menstrual cycles to cease and then return slowly. There is not much you can do about it other than enjoy longer cycles and lighter periods. This allows your body to build up iron stores after losing blood in childbirth. It is natural.

If you do not want to get pregnant right away my advice would be to get on the mini pill. The mini pill will most likely stop your cycle all together and will not affect your breast milk. There are other birth control methods to help regulate your cycle like the implanon.

A lack of vitamin E will cause the menstrual cycle to be irregular. Since the production of breast milk requires more of every nutrient, adding vitamin E would be helpful.
