Well,some common English words are the same as a racial slur--for example,chink(Chinese) and nip (Japanese).Spook was used to denote a black person but it is not heard much these days.
Most racial slurs are not standard English words. You would want to avoid using characters from old books (ie. Uncle Tom) or perhaps phrases that you see comics use.
