Organized religion has instilled order by defining rules by which civilized beings are expected to live- the end result being to obtain a beneficent afterlife. However, organized religion has also cause war, genocide, discrimination of non-participants, and the Salem Witch Trials.

Well, for starters, there's the writing of irrational behavior based on superstition into law, and excessive spending to enforce it. The tax costs of unregulated religion are astronomic.
