Road House was a film with Patrick Swayze in the lead, playing Dalton a professional bouncer hired to clean up a run down bar in a country town. A Weekend at Bernies was another movie released in 1989 that is a cult classic. Two buddys spend a weekend at their bosses beach home with their dead boss in tow.

Two classic cult movies that came out in 1989 were Pet Semetary and Heathers. Both movies were so followed, that sequels were made to both.
