You could keep the invitation traditional and make the response funny. He is one Will attend with bells on, Will attend, no bells, Will not attend, have bell phobia.

How about starting off with, "Against my better judgement..." or "He talked me into it" or write it from a pet as if they are giving you away. Include a goofy picture of you two, or perhaps a somber one. The sarcasm or irony angle seems like a very off the wall way to go!

Use blank CD's to add your own spin on things. Record your favorite song and/or poem, with the details of the wedding on it. Insert a picture of you two to the inside of the front cover and hand deliver them or mail them to all the guests.

My cousin had a wedding topper of a bride and groom where the groom was reeling in the bride with a fishing pole and he groom was trying to get away. I thought that was actually pretty cute and funny. Maybe you can incorporate that somehow as a graphic for your invitation.
