Go with the classic french maid costume. This is going to get a lot of attention because it is so popular amongst the majority ot the population, forget anything else

You could dress up as a french maid, as the Eiffle Tower, a mime, or as a painter wearing a baret.

If you want to be original - and not a little shocking, try dressing up as a guillotine! No realistic sharp blade necessary. Or you could be a baguette. Or one of the current president's model girlfriends. Good luck!

Some ideas for french costumes would be to dress up as a famous french figure, like Marie Antoinette or Napoleon. Or you could dress up as a can can dancer, one of the three musketeers, a french maid,or try french fictional characters like Pepe Le pew, Cyrano De Bergerac and Inspector Jacques Clouseau.

Trench coats, leather gloves, berets, and striped shirts help add to the French look. Pick one of the Three Muskateers or don a powdered wig and proper gown and become Marie Antoinette. Whether one of the Moulin Rouge "can can" dancers or Napoleon Bonaparte, make sure you brush up on those fine French words for authenticity!

Well, you can become a french maid or a french princess. Anything feminine with a french touch always go well for the french costumes.

There's the classic striped black-and-white shirt, beret, red scarf, and black pants. Carry a baguette and say "Hon-hon-hon" a lot. Avoid interacting with actual French people. Other possibilities - mime, French maid, 18th-century aristocrat (like Louis XIV or Marie Antoinette.) This last option could be quite lovely, although you'd want to rent a costume.

For traditional costumes, think Napoleon or Marie Antoinette. Going for laughs? Think anything with the word 'french' in it (ie. french fry, french toast, french braid, french kiss...)

1. French maid outfit. 2. Go to the local Goodwill and look for medieval costumes such as those used in plays. You can be a peasant or nobleman either way.

It depends on which time period you want to represent but French aristocracy costumes or French military dress are both good bets.

Fashion magazines!! There are many online ones you can refer to, such as Elle. For historical costumes, go to the wikipedia or browse in your local public library.

I would assume that you are referring to french costumes of an older decade. In that case I would reccomend things like Marie Antoinette, or Louis XVI. Some more good ideas for the colonial era of the french would be things like cavliers, vampires or musketeers. All of these are costumes from the late 1600s early 1700s.
