Sit ups are obviously the most common. The bicycle is another popular one and is good for your obliques as well because you are torquing your body and you are lifting your elbows to the opposite knees. Another good one is to lay flat ont he ground and have someone stand above you pushing your legs down.

In terms of the physical mechanics of the exercise, performing sit-ups using a simple decline bench are not only very effective if done properly, but also easy and do not require a great deal of coordination. The movement must be performed slowly with attention to contracting the abdomenal muscles specifically.
