A subliminal technique, "stalking", advertisements is used on the T.V. when you wake up for work, on the radio when you drive to work, on the billboards that you see while going to work, on your computer at work, and vice versa back from work. Still used today.

Common subliminal advertising techniques became popular when television became popular and often featured an advert flashing up in amongst other programming so that the person was suddenly thinking of the brand - e.g. Coca Cola - but had not registered the advertisement. Today, product placement in television shows and movies may be considered a type of subliminal advertising.
