Rocky Mountain oysters are a delicacy in parts of the United States, particularly within the Rocky Mountains, obviosly. Rocky Mountain oysters are the testicles from recently castrated bulls. There are several ways to serve them, the most common way being fried in a cooking oil. The organs are similar in taste to flank steak but with a different texture.

To start, they are not like the oysters you find in the ocean. They are in fact buffalo or bull testicles. The animals are castrated, usually at a young age, they then take the testicles and peel them coat them in flour, pepper and salt. They are then pounded flat and deep fried and served as an appetizer.

Rocky Mountain oysters are commonly bull or sheep testicles. They are oftentimes sliced, battered and deep-fried, and include a dipping sauce to enhance the flavor. Rocky Mountain oysters may be a rare find, depending on your location, but if you can get past the idea of eating testicles, give them a try.
