Renal cortical cysts are simple interstitial fluid filled sacs near the outside region of the kidneys. They become more common as one grows older and usually grow to 10-15 centimeters or more. They can be found and located through an ultrasound. But usually not something to worry about, they are commonly benign.

I believe the units for the size referenced should be 10-15 mm, NOT cm.  add a comment

A fluid filled sac develops in one or both of the kidneys. They are noncancerous and many people go through life without knowing they have them.

These cysts are found in the kidney in a place that is actually inside the functional part of the kidney. One cyst is usually of no concern as long as it's simply fluid filled, not of mixed makeup, and not obstructing or growing in the kidney. However, multiple cysts may be a sign of polycystic kidney disease.

Kidney or renal cortical cysts are formed in the cortex of the kidney. Cortex is the area that covers the kideney, the cortex contains so many nephrons which are functional unit of the kidensys, when cysts are formed in the cortex area of the kidney's the functional unit is damaged.

This is really a complex question and shouldn't, ethically, be answered by a website. Some cortical cysts are benign, some have genetic pre-disposition, You need a professional to answer this.

Renal cortical cysts are round or oval sacs filled that contain watery fluids. They are not cancerous and can develop in both or just one kidney. They are more common among people over 50. In many case they are caused by tubular obstruction. Renal tubules contain renal fluids, and when they get blocked; renal cysts are formed.

Renal cortical cysts are small sacs filled with fluid that form in the renal cortex, which is the outer portion of kidney, between renal capsule and renal medulla. They usually subside on their own and needs no treatment. If there is change in size or number, it may require treatment.

It would be a cyst in the cortex of the kidney and they can impair kidney function if they are too large.

The simple renal cyst or cortical cyst is a benign mass arising in the sinus region of kidney. The cyst is filled with clear fluid and is covered with cuboidal epithelium. It does not affect the functioning of kidney. But large size cysts can affect the renal collecting system. This type of cyst arises due to tubular or lymphatic obstruction.
