Postseizure The convulsions stop but the pet acts exhausted or confused. Complete recovery to a normal state varies; some pets return to normal within minutes, while others may act disturbed for hours.

It can vary from genetics due to poor breeding, or injury in the brain or lesion. If they last 5 seconds, there is no real worry but inform your vet.

The most common cause would be epilepsy. Epilepsy is common in dogs under two years old. You should take your dog to the vet because any kind of seizure in a dog is serious. Medication can be prescribed to stop the seizures. Many dogs grow out of epilepsy by the time they reach adulthood.

Epilepsy is the leading cause of in seizures in dogs. Canine Distemper, which is a viral disease, can also couse motor twitches in your dog. Brain tumors, Head injury and environmental toxins can cause seizures as well. Though its not as possible dogs can also become infected with lyme disease.
