PAC's are benign and common. They are early beats of the atria (upper chambers) of the heart and feel like your heart "skipped a beat". PAC's can be brought on by caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, other drugs, and stress.

Commonly referred to as palpitations, a PAC is a mild arrhythmia that originates in the atria of the heart. Not particularly dangerous itself, it could lead to more serious arrhythmias.

Premature Atrial Contractions are the normal heart palpitations where the atrium of the heart beats early. Everyone experiences them in their lifetime, but most people are unaware of it.

PAC's occur in the upper two chambers of the heart. They are one type of irregular or premature heart beat or benign arrhythmia. In a healthy heart his condition usually requires no medical care. In rare cases PVC can trigger atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation. PAC's will show up in an EKG.
