Foodservice regulations are required to ensure that the general public isn't being exposed to unhealthy of unsafe foods. Anybody that serves or produces food for consumption must meet certain standards, such as establishment cleanliness. Without these regulations there would be more sicknesses and society as a whole would be less productive.

Foodservice regulations cover the food industry. This ranges from sit down restaurants to those who package food for consumption off-site to hot dog carts. Common regulations are training in safe food storage and handling, hepatitis vaccines for workers, requirements on cleanliness, regular inspections and that all food service locations are registered so that they can be inspected.
