What are common tree diseases for sweet gum trees?

My sweeet gum tree seems to be diseased and is losing its bark.

Usually if a sweet gum tree gets a disease, it is because it was attacked by insects. Sweet gum trees are difficult to transport anywhere, so you may want to keep it away from insects.

The most common diseases of sweet gum tree are canker diseases including bleeding necrosis which can invade the trunk causing bleeding. Adequate watering and fertilization will check this.

Trunk canker diseases can be deadly to sweet gum trees of which there is no cure. Leaf scorch can be the beginning of this and small insects can spread this to other trees. Spots and flecks can indicate the air pollution is causing the damage. Tent caterpillars, bagworm, fall webworm, ambrosia beetles, leaf minor and calico scale will attack. , too.

The common tree diseases for sweet gum trees would be leaf withering. The leaves would wither early in spring and it also damaged by frost. The main disease are the sweet gum canker and die back.
