The types of animals include mammals such as the porcupine, beaver, otter, muskrat, snowshoe hare, moose, deer, caribou, black bear, Arctic fox, ermine, coyote, wolf, shrew, American marten, birds such as the loon, heron, great horned owl, peregrine falcon, golden eagle, and ruffed grouse, and fish such as pike, muskie, walleye and rock bass.

Many other animals found in the in the forest that makes up the Canadian Shield, also, known as a boreal forest or taiga such as birds, insects and rodents.

The animals which are in the canadian shield would be the falcon, golden eagle, carribou, arctic fox. They are all included in the Canadian shield because they can withstand the cold weather.
