Obviously, major trauma to the abdomen during pregnancy is harmful. Impact resulting from a car accident or severe falls should always be examined by a doctor. However, the sac around the fetus and the amniotic fluid is plenty of protection from minor abdominal impacts.

Yes you should avoid stomach impacts while you are pregnant. Even though your baby is protected by the amiotic sac of fluid, impacts on your stomach could affect the baby if the impact is to hard to your stomach. Also, it may cause developmental problems for your baby during your pregnancy.

I few small bumps to the stomach won't probably hurt the baby as they are in a very cusioned world in there but I would avoid major impacts such as playing sports, car accidents and such. Babies are pretty protected in there but being hit in the stomach area can be dangerous.
