Should nonviolent convicted felons be housed with violent criminals?

For the most part, non-violent offenders are not housed with violent criminals. It is not always possible to separate the two, nor is there any requirement that they be separated. The onus falls on the individual to think twice prior to committing the crime, rather than to worry after the fact about associations that will be made in prison.

Nonviolent felons should be kept in different quarters as violent criminals to reduce the chances of harm coming to them.

Yes they should. If for no other reason then to scare them straight. There should be no concern felons personal feelings or concerns. They should have no special rights just because they were not violent this time.

Since non-violent offenders such as drug offenders and 3-time losers who rob, but are not murders are incarcerated as punishment with the really violent criminals. Concerns are abuses they must tolerate from the hardened criminals. Their punishment is to deter risking additional crimes. We need to find some way to reduce recidivism and train or teach them a new skill.

I certainly don't think they should. No one wants to address prison reform because they don't want to seem "soft on crime," but this is a huge problem.
