Should I tell my estranged father why I hated him?

What's the point? Nothing will be resolved. You won't benefit from attempting to hurt him with your words. Get some counseling and learn to forgive him, which benefits YOU, which is the entire point. You deserve to be happy.

Yes you should and here's why. As a father we do our very best to raise our children without a manual, guide or even sometimes society's support. Parenting isn't easy, it's not like the movies. Tell him and forgive him. You never know when your turn will come.

If you do, it may provide you with closure. Having had your say, you will know that perhaps he understood why you have acted as you have done. Please - if you do tell him - please do it with as much consideration for his situation as possible.

I wrote an email to him that was read directly to him. It was harsh, but 100% true. I feel better, even it was pointless telling a sociopath he was a sociopath. Thanks for the comments!
