Not much there were trade agreements in place however remember that during WWII they weren't exactly allies either... Hitler believed Japan would be weak enough to be conquered later!

Prior to World War II Nazi Germany and Japan had a relationship based on sharing military knowledge. Germany sent advisors to Japan in order train their military and share technologies.

Although before World War II Nazi Germany and Japan had few ties, they were aligned in their political ideals. The citizens of both countries believed that their rulers were the supreme power of their lives, regardless of their views. If you leader believed in one thing, it was a message from god.

Nazi Germany and Japan were already close before WWII. The Japanese navy was based on ship designs from Britain, but Japan owed their army training and development to the German advisers.
