No. You need to answer a subpoena. It is a demand from the court to present yourself, and if you don't you are in contempt and default.

Probably not. A subpoena is a demand by the court that you present yourself (or your records, or whatever is being subpoenaed). If you fail to comply with the subpoena, you may be found in contempt of the court. If you are found in contempt, the court may impose penalties including jail time.
