There are two methods that I have heard of that will give you permanently straight and smooth hair. Firstly is the Japanese straightening method, and the second is a Keratin straightening method. Unfortunately, once your hair grows out, new hair will need to be straightened as well.

There is a process called chemical straightening, which will make your hair perfectly straight for up to six months before you have to have it re-done. You can get this done at nearly any hair salon, and it relaxes your hair until it's completely straight.

There are many types of hair straightening processes all of which are temporary. The curl cannot be removed permanently because the new growth of the hair will still maintain the curl pattern and the straightening process has to be repeated on the new growth.

Keeping hair straight forever is impossible. Hair straightening products are permenent; however, new growth will appear each month in its natural state.

You can go to a salon and get a Japanese hair straightening treatment. These can be costly, especially if it's done by someone who knows what they are doing, but if you want straight hair, this will be worth it. There are also other chemical straightners, call your salon and see what they offer.

No there isn't a way to keep you hair straight forever. You can however get a relaxer. I would not recommend that you do this yourself, you should go to a salon and request one. This will need to be done every once in awhile.
