Question by  TheProfessor (26)

Is there a pneumonic device to help remember the names of the planets?

I remember something from when I was a kid, but I can't recall details.

How one uses pneumoics to memorize varies, since some people develop their own. However this one is an easy one: "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas."

There is a pneumonic device that I learned back in grade school to learn the planets and it went like this. My Very Earnest Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles. I am not sure if they still use this now though due to the fact that Pluto is not considered a planet anymore.

The phrase has likely changed since you were a child since Pluto was demoted from planet status. It used to be: "My Very Earnest Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles" for "Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto." However, a new one hasn't been decided for sure yet. You could change the "nine" to "nachos", perhaps.
