Goody's is not owned by WalMart. It is in fact owned by a company called Stage Stores, Inc.; Texas based, selling brand name clothing and items, it is a New York Stock Exchange company.
I have not heard anything about Wal-Mart owning Goody's in the news or other media sources. Goody's isn't available to every state but mainly have stores in the South and SouthEast. Also, I don't recall Goody's being very close in proxcimidy to Wal-Mart in several states in which I have shopped.
