Generally, most liquids are good for the kidneys. The tea is very similar to the pure water, and it in some way cleans the kidneys. But there are some sort of tea, which contain special ingredients that can cause reaction in the blood vessel of the body including the kidneys.

While drinking small amounts of tea is okay, drinking too much can effect your kidneys, making them work harder. Some tea has caffeine which is harmful in great amounts. Make sure to drink lots of water every day if you are a tea drinker so it counteracts the caffeine in tea.

First, it depends on which type of tea you consume. Some tea may provide antioxidants which overall good for the body, but the teas that contain high amounts of caffeine may be bad for your kidneys. All tea have some salts called oxalate, which may create kidney stones which are not good for your body.

Non-caffeinated teas and herbal teas are nonharmful fluids. Drinking plenty of fluids when one has no pre-existing kidney problems is good for the renal system.
