Yes - Alzheimer's disease is a condition that progressively moves though a series of stages, getting worse over time as the neural damage intensifies, causing gradually more severe dementia.

Progressive dementia can be a sign of Alzheimer's Disease. Depending on the nature of the dementia, it can also indicate Binswanger's Disease, strokes or a series of mini-strokes, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, hydrocephalus, or infections that affect the central nervous system, like AIDS or Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

Not really no. Dementia is closer to paranoia, where as Alzheimer's is a clouding of the mind. Again I would speak with a doctor if this is a concern.
