Spotting can be caused by many things, such as sex or a cervial exam. However, it can also indicate complications during pregnancy. To be safe, call your practitioner.

While a bit of light spotting is nothing to become alarmed about, if it becomes frequent or excessive, contact a doctor immediately.

Woman often have some small bit of spotting during pregnancy and it is not generally a cause for alarm. Changes to the cervix is often the cause for this and maybe be caused from internal exam, sexual activity or have no obvious cause. Unless bleeding becomes excessive or is accompanied by painful cramping it is generally not an issue.
