Is mineral oil an effective treatment for constipation?

My mother used to give us some kind of oil; I can't remember what it was.

Mineral Oil is actually toxic and can cause severe injury or even death. Your mother probably gave you castor oil or fish oil, both of which can help end constipation.

Yes mineral oil is effective. It is an emollient that temporarily coats the intestines and prevents reabsorption of water. As an effect, stool are soft and easily excreted. I recommend taking 2-4 teaspoons of castor oil to reduce constipation.

Oil in general isn't very healthy. Try eating fiber found in raw fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Eating animal products like meat and dairy causes many health issues, namely constipation since they take longer to digest and usually stay in the intestines a long time. Go a couple weeks with little to no animal products and you will notice.
