It is not safe to be out in the sun if your are pregnant to get a suntan. You should apply a SunScreen with a SPF of at least 15 or higher to protect your skin from harmful UVA rays that can damage and age your skin.

As far as hurting the baby, it more than likely will not. You just need to make sure to keep yourself very hydrated and dont get over heated.

Regardless of your state of pregnancy, getting a suntan is never "safe. " You should always wear sunscreen when in the sun to prevent skin cancers. This is especially important during pregnancy because your immune system is slightly repressed and you may be more susceptible to skin cancers.
