Yes, it is absolutely safe and will not cause your nail any harm. Be sure to keep it away from the eyes and mucous membranes while still wet to avoid irritation.

It is safe, but with the topcoat the nail does not breath so usually after you take off the coat the nail is more frail.

Well from everything that I have heard and read about, it is supposed to be safe as long as it done correctly and by a professional. I have also heard that you should not get it near your mouth and eyes, because it will irritate the mucous membranes while the uv gel is wet.

The gel itself is absolutely safe as long as it is kept away from the mouth and eyes while wet. The wet gel can cause irritation to mucous membranes.

When I have fake nails applied I always get the silk nails and they always put the uv gel top coat on them and I think it lasts longer than the regular top coat,

A UV gel topcoat product will not cause your nail any harm. UV gel topcoats are primarily used under low watt lighting for faster drying of nail polish.
