Usually you can get stainless steal crowns unless it is a front tooth. Taking care of the baby teeth are important. If you do not take care of the baby teeth the permanent teeth will come in damaged.

If you are refering to a child's baby teeth, this is highly irregular. An acceptable treatment would be stainless steel crowns or fillings, unless this is an unusual case. Porcelain crowns are reserved for adult teeth. I would get further information and possibly a second opinion.

If your baby is in danger of losing molar teeth due to dental problems, then yes, it could be necessary to have them crowned. The crowns will protect and/or restore the teeth and allow your babies teeth to progress as normal.

If the baby has not yet gotten the adult teeth and will do so in the next 1-3 years, it may be more cost effective to have them pulled and let the adult teeth replace them. But do not pull so many teeth it is hard to eat.
